Understanding Figma

To improve design consistency and efficiency across BASF’s digital projects, I created a bespoke Figma library of reusable components and templates. Initially developed to support my own workflow after maternity leave, the system became a valuable resource for the wider creative team, boosting productivity, enhancing accessibility, and streamlining the delivery of emails, banners, and social assets.

Creating a library for efficiency.

As part of BASF’s broader digital marketing efforts, the creative team was producing a high volume of emails, banners, and social media assets. However, there was no centralised design system in place, which slowed down production and led to inconsistencies across digital outputs.

I set out to improve efficiency and consistency by developing a streamlined approach to design production, while also upskilling myself in Figma after returning from maternity leave.

I created a comprehensive Figma library containing reusable components, templates, and style guides tailored to BASF’s brand. Initially built for personal use to support upcoming email, website, and social media design work, the system enabled me to work more efficiently and maintain visual cohesion across assets. The library included responsive email modules that were both accessible and visually appealing, optimised for screen readers, mobile devices, and brand consistency. Recognising the value of the system, I shared it with the wider creative team to support collaboration and raise the overall standard of output.

The Figma library significantly improved creative workflow speed, design consistency, and accessibility across projects. It also helped me strengthen my Figma expertise and return to work with greater confidence and capability.
